The Tulsa Transition Academy (TTA) is an amazing new program at Tulsa Public Schools for students with special needs ages 18-22 that have received their alternate high school diploma. The goal of TTA is to provide a bridge from high school to adulthood for young adults with significant disabilities. Students will be in classes that teach: Independent Living Skills, Employment Skill and Community Living Skills.
TTA began in the 23-24 school year and is housed in a large single classroom at Hale High School. It currently has 13 students to triple in size next year and there will soon be 100 students causing the need for the Tulsa Transition Academy to relocate to a new building.
In March 2024, TPS announced the program would relocate to the current Ross Child Nutrition Facility located at 8934 E Latimer Place in Tulsa. On April 1, 2024, Parents, tax payers, volunteers and concerned citizens gathered at the school board meeting to voice their concern regarding the proposed location and ask that the District to not move the Transition Academy to the unsafe (physically and environmentally) Ross Building but instead move the Transition Academy to the Remington Elementary campus.
